All Altrusans and the public are invited to attend a special presentation on Friday, January 18 at 7 PM about "Pennies for Peace" -- Pennies for Peace teaches children the rewards of sharing and working together to bring hope and educational opportunities to children in Pakistan and Afghanistan.Our guest speaker will also present a slideshow about Greg Mortenson, a former mountaineer who has been working in the mountain villages in Central Asia to help local people build 58 schools (to date), and to educate children -- boys and especially GIRLS -- in places which often had no schools at all.

This Montrose event is sponsored by Altrusa, and it is hoped that it will inspire local schools, clubs, and others to participate in the "Pennies for Peace" program, and to expand the awareness throughout our community of what can be accomplished "one school at a time."
