Support our community & lend your name to a great event

Altrusa's annual Spring Luncheon is just around the corner -- March 22, 2014 -- and we need YOU. As a sponsor of this very popular event, your business name will be recognized as one that truly cares about our community.

Your participation is critical to Altrusa’s continued efforts to better our community. You can be assured that your sponsorship dollars will go toward individual grants and service projects where local Altrusans unite their varied talents in service to others, and achieve as a group what individuals cannot do alone.

Without generous sponsors like you, the Montrose Altrusa Club would not be able to fulfill the needs of so many. We hope you will commit to one of our Sponsorship Opportunities so we may include you as one of our supporters this year in helping make our Annual Spring Luncheon a success.

For more details on becoming a sponsor of Altrusa's 2014 Spring Luncheon, please CLICK HERE. We are also looking for donations for the live auction as well as applications for Vendor tables in our Shopping Boutique. Note that many levels of sponsorship and support are available, so this opportunity is open to businesses large and small (and to individuals as well!).

Altrusa thanks our generous Montrose community for your support over the years. Together, we are building a stronger community.

Celebrate! – Tickets for Annual Altrusa Luncheon Now On Sale

Altrusa of Montrose now has tickets available for one of its most popular fundraising events of the year – the Altrusa Spring Luncheon. On Saturday, March 21, 2009, the 21st Annual Altrusa Spring Luncheon will be held at the Montrose Pavilion.

Every year, creative Altrusans and other members of the community, decorate  Luncheon tables following the theme selected for the year.  This year’s theme is Celebrate! and should create a festive and fun atmosphere for Luncheon guests as table decorators create 29 unique Luncheon tables portraying a variety of joyous things to “CELEBRATE,” such as “Mardi Gras”, “Man’s Best Friend” and “Babies” in their own artistic way.

On March 21st, the Altrusa Spring Luncheon event will begin at 9:00 am with an exclusive Shopping Boutique in the Montrose Pavilion Lobby and Senior Center areas, as well as Luncheon Table viewing for ticket holders.  With over 20 vendors, the Shopping Boutique will be open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Seating will begin at 12:15 pm for the elegant luncheon meal, served by members of Altrusa.  A runway fashion show featuring local clothing stores, as well as a live auction, musical entertainment and door prize drawings, will also be included as part of the event.

The entire community is encouraged to attend this fun Altrusa fundraiser.  Proceeds from the Altrusa Spring Luncheon are invested back into the Montrose Community - for a variety of worthwhile programs, student scholarships and community services undertaken or supported by Altrusa throughout the year.

Tickets for the Luncheon are $30 and are available by mail only. Those interested in purchasing tickets may do so by sending a check or money order, a self-addressed, stamped envelope and the Attendee’s name for each ticket ordered to:

Committees report on their activities

At our December 9 meeting, Altrusans were treated to an impressive series of reports from several of our committees on their accomplishments so far, and plans for the rest of our fiscal year.

Jeannie Kuchynka (Members Issues) reported that 27 Altrusans participated as volunteers for the Bosom Buddies Walk/Run fundraiser. The committee has provided school supplies to local students, scholarships to help children participate in extra-curricular activities, and 4 DVD players (plus a DVD library) to the San Juan Cancer Center for patients to use while undergoing lengthy chemotherapy.

Lita Sargent (Spring Luncheon '09) seems ready to issue a challenge with our 2nd biggest fundraiser, declaring that the committee has a goal of raising $13,500 this year -- nipping at the heels of our #1 fundraiser, the Holiday Festival. This year's theme: "Celebrate." The committee has several ideas for ways to enhance the function, including getting table sponsors, handing out "goody bags" with items from sponsors, and offering more auction items.

Cheryl Gibson (Environmental) outlined a very impressive list of projects that committee is undertaking. Adopt-a-Highway may be enhanced with recycling efforts, more "Flowers by Altrusa" will be planted at Cerise Park, and they'll be putting on an Earth Day luncheon and "green" fashion show (zero waste, of course!). They are also expanding the composting school lunch program at Passage Charter school to Northside (which serves about 10 times as many lunches). The Environmental committee also plants to continue volunteer work at the annual e-Waste event (electronics recycling), and begin some new ongoing projects such as a bike riding challenge (promoting bicycle usage at Columbine and Centennial), and Wild Bird Education and Protection brochures. Wow!

Susan Woody (Literacy) reported that we won't need to sew additional Buddy Bags this year, but will continue to fill them with items for children. Season's Readings book collections are going well, and the committee is buying Spanish and bilingual books to add to the items to be handed out by Health & Human Services. For Make a Difference Day, the committee donated books and gift bags for students to receive from teachers as rewards to Passage Charter school.

All of us at Altrusa congratulate these committees for their impressive work. Thanks to everyone involved!

Of course, if we tried to hold a single meeting to hear reports on projects from all our committees, we'd need to schedule an entire day!

Spring Luncheon 2008

A great deal of time and effort by members of the Spring Luncheon committee resulted in a very successful event. About 90% of our membership participated in putting on this fundraiser, including organizing or modeling in the fashion show, arranging for entertainment, food preparation and serving, publicity, ticket sales, table decoration, and organizing vendors. Committee Chair Bobbi Brown reports a projected net profit of just over $12,000.

All funds raised by the Spring Luncheon and our other fundraisers are used to help our local community as well as broader-based Projects of our Montrose club. Altrusa of Montrose thanks everyone who sponsored, participated, or attended this event for their support which enables us to help others.

"All Around the World" fundraising luncheon

Altrusa of Montrose is pleased to announce the theme of this year's annual Spring Luncheon is "All Around the World!" The Luncheon will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

This year's event promises to be another fun, festive, and flavorsome affair. Table viewing and a Vendor Fair will run from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Altrusans and other creative folks will have set and decorated a number of tables based on the international theme of the event. (For some photos of tables from last year's event, click here). Vendors offer such items as jewelry, crafts, and gourmet foods.

Luncheon seating will be at 11:30 AM, and the menu this year is also international in flavor.

Our guest speaker is Enda Junkins, MSW, LCSW, LMFT. Enda will get us all laughing with her presentation, "Reducing Stress with Humor."

Attendees will also be treated to a fashion show, a live auction, and door prizes.

Tickets are $30, and available starting February 15 by mail only. Send check or money order, a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and the Attendee's name for each ticket ordered to:

Fundraising Projects

The services Altrusa provides to our Montrose community and to communities around the world are made possible by funds raised by several annual fundraising projects:

In addition, our Bequests and Grants committee identifies Altrusa projects in need of funds to enable enhancement or expansion of projects. This committee researches availability of grants, compiles data required by grants, writes and submits grants.
